News from DENS – April 2024

Aaron’s story

Aaron had been sofa surfing following a relationship breakdown. During this immensely stressful time, he also lost his job. Arriving at The Elms hostel, Aaron was motivated to get back into work and he soon found support with updating his CV, preparing for interviews and more through DENS’ Employment & Skills Coach.

Aaron’s hard work paid off when he landed his dream job as a Retail Assistant. Now, settled into a new home and a job he loves, Aaron is thriving and looking ahead to a brighter future.

A special award win

We are incredibly proud to have won a High Sheriff of Hertfordshire Award for our achievements in supporting local people experiencing homelessness!

The ceremony was a truly special occasion that celebrated the work of some inspiring charitable organisations from around the county, and we feel privileged to be among those honoured.

Hillbuster update

Unfortunately, due to extreme weather conditions putting the safety of our cyclists at risk, we made the difficult decision of cancelling our Hillbuster event on Sunday 28th April.

However, we are pleased to confirm that our events team is working hard to secure a rescheduled date within the coming weeks. We will share news about this as soon as we can across all our official platforms.
