On Friday 24th September, we were thrilled to host our Golf Day at the stunning home of our Charity of the Year partners, Harpenden Golf Club.
The event was a huge success, with the 75 passionate golfers who took part raising a fantastic £10,000 to help rebuild the lives of local people facing homelessness, poverty and social exclusion.
Under a backdrop of gorgeous autumnal sunshine throughout the day, the players enjoyed 18 holes of golf at one of the county’s finest courses. This was followed by a well-deserved and delicious two-course lunch at the clubhouse.
To top off the day, participants were able to enter a raffle and place their bids in a silent auction – with prizes including a signed Watford FC shirt and golf day experiences at several exclusive local clubs. Proceedings were closed with the final standings revealed and the highest-scoring four-ball teams taking home prizes. A special congratulations goes to the winning team on the day, ‘He’s Only 28’.
Charlotte McCarthy, our Relationship & Community Fundraiser, said: “We’re so pleased with the success of our Golf Day. It was a fantastic day of fundraising and golf and the sun was shining down on us. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the day: our golfers, ten local businesses sponsoring holes on the course and Harpenden Golf Club for choosing us at their Charity of the Year.”
We’re now looking forward to hosting another Golf Day in 2022. If you’d like to be the first to know about this, and all our other upcoming fundraising events, please sign up to our monthly E-News by clicking here.
